We all love fried foods. I mean, come on.. fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried shrimp, egg rolls.. is your mouth watering yet? I grew up in south Louisiana where everything is fried, even oreos… yes oreos and they are so good! Maybe I should do a post about that…ummmm. So, could fried foods be healthy? Honestly, I have no clue but what I do know is someone came out with this new kitchen gadget called an Power Air Fryer XL (5.3 QT Deluxe, Black). This thing fries your food without the oil!! Which is the most fattening part of frying anything. I will be honest, its not the cheapest but this thing is awesome and is my new addiction!!
Here is a recipe that I cooked the other night. I can’t take credit for it cause it was one of the display samples at Sam’s.
Ingredients:
~SeaPak Butterfly Shrimp or you can bread and fry your own (using the air fryer)
~Sister Schubert’s Dinner Yeast Rolls
~Mrs. Dash-Original Seasoning Blend, 6.75 oz
~Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise 30 oz
Instructions:
Add the Dinner Yeast rolls to baking pan and cook according to the package. I basted melted butter on top of mine. I know… that doesn’t help but hey, I used organic butter (lol).
Next you want to add shrimp to the bottom of the air fryer
On the air fryer, press the power button ( the basket MUST be pushed in all the way for it to start… safety feature). Next you want to press the “M” button until it displays the shrimp symbol. Once symbol displays, the fryer will start automatically in a few seconds.
While the shrimp is cooking, time to make sauce.
I use 1 cup of Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise 30 oz and 2 tablespoons of Mrs. Dash-Original Seasoning Blend, 6.75 oz
, mix well.
Once your yeast rolls and shrimp are done, comes the fun part.
Cut your yeast rolls in half. Spread your sauce mixture onto the rolls, then add 2 shrimp. It should look like this:
These are so good!! I have some picky eaters and they loved it!! My husband ask for me to make these on a regular basis lol. This is so easy to make for dinner, snacks or appetizers for a party.
I have made a TON of other things using my air fryer. Everything has come out tasting way better than if I would have used oil. Like for real.. surprised me at how good they really were. I now use the fryer for EVERYTHING! Even a whole chicken! You have got to try it!
Here is a list of good cookbooks for using the air fryer:
